Truman graduate named interim city manager
Mari Macomber, a 1986 University graduate, will serve as interim city manager until a permanent replacement for city manager Scot Wrighton, who recently resigned, can be found.
"I am pleased they are giving me this opportunity," Macomber said. "I'm looking forward to making sure the policies and programs the city has in place continue to run smoothly."
Macomber works as city director of economic and community development and has been with the city of Kirksville since 1998.
The City Council plans to make the appointment official in a March 3 meeting, and Wrighton will step down March 19. The search for a permanent replacement is in progress.
Student artwork now on display in campus art gallery
The spring 2003 Juried Student Exhibit is now under way in the University art gallery in Ophelia Parrish.
Student work, including paintings, sculptures and fibers, is on display for the public until March 7.
Craig Subler, an art professor at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, is the jury for the show.
Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and noon to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
Students to offer free tax assistance to community
Members of Beta Alpha Psi, a national honor fraternity for financial information professionals, are offering their services through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA.
The University has been participating in VITA under the guidance of Steve Klein, professor of accounting, since 1991.
VITA will be available March 1, 22, 29 and April 5 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Violette Hall 1010. Those seeking help should bring W-2 forms, a copy of last year's return and other information related to income.
