During the day, he works as a board-certified internist and addictionologist, but at night Dr. Drew Pinsky spends his time fielding questions that range from the obscene to the absurd.

Truman students will have the opportunity to ask Pinsky questions tonight about dating, drugs, depression and other issues affecting young adults.

Pinsky is best known for co-hosting MTV's "Loveline" with Adam Carolla. He also wrote the book "Cracked: Putting Lives Back Together."

Pinsky said his program at 7 p.m. in Baldwin Auditorium will be interactive and focus on the interests and questions of the audience.

"People's [questions] do not disappoint," he said. "The questions can be outrageous, but when you scratch under the surface you find human reality that is usually pretty grim."

Pinsky said it is difficult balancing entertainment with giving worthwhile advice.

"I've always believed that if you don't entertain, you don't get to the eyes and ears," Pinsky said. "Mostly [the audience] provides it, and I just react."

He said he is a messenger who shares what he has seen and learned.

"I don't judge," Pinsky said. "I'm not going to get up there and tell you what you should and shouldn't be doing. I try to open your eyes to what is there and give you the opportunity to solve a problem."

Pinsky said working with Carolla gives audiences a pretty broad spectrum of advice.

He and Carolla have heard their fair share of strange questions.

Pinsky said one in particular sticks out in his mind.

He said a man called their show and asked why women freak out when they find out why he had been in jail. When Pinsky asked what he did, the man said he broke into a cemetery and stole the head off a buried woman. The man brought the head back to his house and used it as a decoration in his snake's aquarium until he was caught.

Pinsky said that while on the surface the story is crazy, when he and Carolla looked into the man's life they found he was an abuse survivor, his mother and brother were both in jail and his father was nowhere to be found.
