Male discrimination exists and persists today in United States

In America's history, people of different race, class and gender have been discriminated against because they did not look the same, dress the same, act the same, and the list goes on. In most cases the minority American was the one generally discriminated against, and it is still the same today. Now the dominant role also is discriminated against: the male.

Male discrimination occurs in a variety of ways. Such practices against men in nursing might be easing, but male nurses continue to tell stories about unfair treatment. Women also are not required to sign up for the draft at age 18 like males in our society. If drafted, the government demands killing to protect the country and risking one's life against the enemy on the battlefield.

In today's society the courts often leave men with the financial burden of supporting their wife or child - a child that they might only temporarily get to spend time with or be granted visitation rights to see. With all due respect, I do not know the level of pain that fathers go through after having their wives and the courts take their children away. Fathers sometimes don't even try to seek custody because they presume that judges will award custody to the mothers. Unfortunately, some men refuse to marry because of what's going on. To deny marriage in anger and fear of women or the system is foolish. Marriage is essential to happiness for most people because many people desire a lifelong partner. Studies also show that married people live longer. Discrimination occurs against everyone. If this is realized, then maybe discrimination will not happen at all. Until then, do not think that you cannot be discriminated against because it can and does happen.
