Two fatalities due to Wednesday night's tornado have been confirmed in Adair County. Adair County coroner Brian Noe said two people died in their mobile homes on Rye Street, on the north side of Kirksville. Ages and names have not yet been released.

This comes in addition to the death in Sullivan County that Susie Stonner, spokesperson for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, reported Wednesday night.

Noe said Northeast Regional Medical Center also reported six minor injuries in the area.

The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-1 tornado hit the north side of Kirksville yesterday evening. Their measurements are based on an Enhanced Fujita scale that bases assessments on 28 different indicators, including types of damage and wind strength. An EF-1 tornado can generate winds from 86 to 110 mph.

The storm hit Kirksville at about 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, causing major damage to Jim Robertson's Chevrolet Toyota dealership and homes in the Bob White development on the north side of town. The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo., also reported a tornado in Novinger at 5:48 p.m.
